About

About Indie Maven:

Indie Maven is a blog dedicated to exposing and promoting the best indie that the world has to offer – from artists, to businesses, products, ventures, and outside-the-box thinkers.  Whether you want to support local artisans and economies, want a more personal experience, or are just looking for something new, Indie Maven hopes to help you unearth some brand-new favorites.  Indie Maven believes in the power of one – each choice you make, and each dollar you spend has the power to do good.  We hope you will think before you spend and support independent businesses, artists, and thinkers in your community and online.

Indie Maven content is all original and our featured indie mavericks come from a combination of research and referral.  If you have a question about one of our pieces or are interested in being featured on Indie Maven, please contact us at:  info@indiemaven.net.  Please let us know if you have any trouble using the site as well!

Note From the Author:

Hello!
Thank you for stopping by our humble little space on the internets. My name is Andrea, and I am a freelance writer, grad student, and creator of Indie Maven.  I am blessed to be surrounded by incredibly talented people – some business people, some artists, some chefs, some just creative souls. Recently I began to become frustrated by the lack of exposure these brilliant people were getting, and I thought there had to be a way to start networking and showcasing this talent.  Hence, Indie Maven was born.  According to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED to the dorks),”maven” is Yiddish for an expert or a knowledgeable enthusiast – I don’t claim to be an expert, but I am an enthusiast, and I hope to become your knowledgeable enthusiast on all things indie.  I welcome your comments on the types of content you’re looking for and especially your experience with our featured indie geniuses.  I only ask that everyone be respectful – my hope is that this can be a positive space, where inspiration is nurtured and independence celebrated.  I also believe in the power of the written word, so as much as I love photographs and will feature them here, this isn’t a photoblog – so I hope you will plan a little extra time to savor Indie Maven’s longer-than-a-blurb posts :)

Thanks for stopping by, we hope to see you again soon!

Cheers :)
Andrea
